Atlantis annual Fundraising Dinner 2015

Atlantis Swimming Club is a registered Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) committed to promoting competitive swimming in the Lenasia and surrounding area. Atlantis’s goal is to ensure that our swimmers reach the peak of their potential and compete at the highest levels of professional swimming. As a swimming club, Atlantis is committed to ensuring that our swimmers attain success in and out of the water thus ensuring that we contribute towards the positive growth of the youth in our community. Our commitment to growth in the community has been recognised by the Central Gauteng Aquatics as this governing body of aquatics in Gauteng has awarded Atlantis the “Community Club of the Year” award for the swim seasons i.e. 2008-2009, 2009-2010 and 2010-2011. Swim South Africa gave credence to the fact that Atlantis is fast becoming a recognized entity in the swimming arena and awarded the club the accolade of “Best Development Club” for the 2009—2010 season.

Atlantis hosts an annual fund raising dinner and as part of our social responsibility initiative elects a charity each year that benefits from this event. To date Atlantis has contributed a total of R344 000.00 to charities such as Down Syndrome, MC Kharbhai School, JISWA, TIBA, Lenasia Cancer Society, The Teddy Bear Clinic for Abused Children (Soweto Branch) & SANCA Nishtara Alcohol and Drug Centre, The Fountain of Inspiration over the last 8 years. The contributions made to our community by Atlantis would not be possible without the assistance and generosity received from sponsors. Atlantis’s transformation initiatives ensure that we instil positive values and ethics in our members and swimmers alike.

The 2015 Atlantis Fundraising Dinner will be held on Saturday, 9th May 2015 at the Park Primary School Hall and the beneficiary of this year’s dinner is Wits Palliative Care (WITSPAL). WITSPAL is a non-profit organization, based at the Chris Hani Baragwanath academic hospital, in Soweto. Children and families diagnosed with non-curable, life-limiting or life threatening conditions are referred for medical and psychosocial support through the duration of the condition. They also provide active care for patients using a holistic perspective encompassing physical (pain and symptom control), emotional (and into bereavement), social and spiritual aspects of care (in line with the World Health Organisation’s definition of paediatric palliative care). The dinner will cater for approximately 500 guests; the guest list includes businessmen, key community members and people from all walks of life, both young and old, and will thus facilitate networking and marketing opportunities.

In order to make this fund raising dinner possible and maximise contributions, we require your support. We appeal to you for sponsorship towards this initiative bearing in mind that the profits derived from the dinner will contribute towards the successful running of the Atlantis Swimming Club and the success of our swimmers, in addition, a percentage of the profit will be contributed to our nominated beneficiary, Wits Palliative Care (WITSPAL).
